Taken to the Woodshed

Pat Forde dislikes Bobby Petrino. A lot. It's not every day you read a featured columnist on the largest and most prominent sports site on the planet tear into a sports figure like that.

It was beautiful, just beautiful. Petrino had it coming and from the sound of it, Forde has brought down the hammer on him before (he caught him with his hand in the coaching-carousel cookie jar after interviewing with Auburn in a Motel 6.)

Disingenuous drifter is a new one for me. And I like it. Nice work by Forde bitch-slapping Petrino all over the pages of espn.com. There's clearly something personal between the two of them though, and I hope they can work it out.

Don't worry, no lemonparty photoshops including these two and Arthur Blank. But that would be awesome.

Almost as awesome as Fran Blinebury of the Houston Chronicle really laying into the Rockets, McGrady in particular. Here's an excerpt (thanks FanHouse)

Oh, sure. T-Mac will occasionally give one of those "It's On Me" speeches. And then he'll turn into origami as soon as things get tough again. He is a splendid, wonderful bundle of basketball talent. But he is not a warrior who you'd ever want covering your back. After 10-plus NBA seasons, there is a reason why he has never won a single playoff series. He is a performer, not a player. He is a diva, not a diver. He is kind of star that his teammates will often watch in amazement, but never follow to the next level. And checking out of an embarrassing loss with a turned ankle does nothing to change that.

I'm surprised he didn't work something in about his shooting touch from the right side of the court.

What's that you say? "What's your fucking point, Walter?" or something to that affect? My fucking point, dude, is that I love when writers let their inner fan show through and their frustration boils over.

Pat Forde used to work for a Louisville paper. Think he wasn't a Louisville fan? The man clearly has a special, cold place reserved in his heart for Petrino. Fran has most likely had enough of watching a supposed title-contending Rockets team hover around .500 for the year and has clearly had enough of McGrady's injuries every year.

This stuff sure beats the shit out of rinse and repeat news stories or storylines that are absolutely beaten into the ground. I like a writer with a sharp tongue and long legs and big tits.

While Forde and Fran are obviously lacking in a couple of those, they sure do know how to work their tongue.
