A meeting of mediocrity: the Diamondbacks and Jessica Simpson

The Arizona Diamondbacks have announced that Jessica Simpson will perform after their game on the 13th of September against the Reds.

While their attendance numbers are certainly up, the Diamondbacks have yet to consistently fill cavernous Chase Field this year, despite the team's (loosening) stranglehold on first place. The tandem of Brandon Webb and Dan Haren, along with the somewhat rejuvenated Randy Johnson and a young and exciting roster, hasn't quite clicked the turnstiles as DBacks management would hope.

Looks to me like the DBacks brass has faced the facts. Nothing boosts attendance quite like a blond bimbo with a smoking-hot body who is desperately clinging to what little fame she has left.

Think she'll sing "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'?"

BallHype: hype it up!

Ugly. G-A-S-O-L. Ugly.

While the inspired play of the United States basketball team has been wonderful, and to be honest, a bit surprising, the most unwelcome development out of Beijing this August is the reminder of how awkward looking and just plain ugly the brothers Gasol are:

Smell me, smell me, smell me!

Please stop beating me with those ugly microphones!

Faces only a mother could love.

Wait, what's that? This is Pau Gasol's wife?

And if you do a simple google image search with the safe filter turned off she'll leave nothing to your imagination?

Faaaaaantastic.

Still doesn't change the fact that when the NBA's all-ugly team is announced next year, the brothers Gasol will be part of the starting frontcourt. Or that if my dog were as ugly as them I'd shave its butt and tell it to walk backwards. Or that they were so ugly as kids their mother breast fed them through a straw. Or that when they played in the sandbox as kids their cat tried to cover them up.
